A flush metal cap for a 2-inch wood handrail. The 600W/2 presses into the end of a 2-inch round wood rod and finishes it with a flat metal face, so a wood rail ends cleanly and the end grain is covered. Polished brass, or 304 stainless in polished or satin, to match the metal brackets carrying the rail.
Description
A wood handrail usually rides on metal brackets, and its cut end is the one place the two materials do not meet well. The 600W/2 finishes that end. It presses into a 2-inch OD round wood rod, covers the end grain, and leaves a flat metal face flush with the rail, so the termination matches the brackets below it instead of showing raw wood or a mismatched plastic plug. Choose polished brass to match brass saddles and flanges, or 304 stainless in polished or satin for stainless hardware. The cap is a finish part, not a structural one; it dresses the end of the run, which is why it is worth getting right on a stair or balcony where the rail end is at eye level. For metal tubing, the 600/2 flush end cap does the same job.
