Ball Cross Satin Stainless Steel for 1.5" O.D.. Tubing (44-706/1H)
Our ball fittings are used to construct handrails, footrails, stair rails, bar rails, ballet rails, and many other metal railing systems. The vertical posts of the railings should be made with a continuous architectural metal tube (for strength) while the horizontals are cut and fit with architectural hardware between posts. Ball fittings may be available in a variety of finishes not usually found in traditional brass fitting, including stainless steel, and more.
All ball fittings are supplied with self-drilling, self-tapping hardware.

Four 1.5-inch OD tubes meet at right angles in one flat plane around a decorative ball. The Ball Cross gives a rail grid, a partition infill, or a crossed guard rail a finished junction with no welding, and the tube ends hide inside the ball so cuts need not be perfect. Polished brass, or 304 stainless in polished or satin, at the everyday handrail size.
Description
Where four rails cross in the same plane, the Ball Cross ties them together at a single point. Four 1.5-inch OD tube ends seat into one cast fitting with a ball at the center, producing a flat four-way junction for a rail grid, a partition infill, or a guard rail with a crossed brace. The ends disappear inside the ball, so you cut four straight pieces and let the fitting hold the right angles. The 1.5-inch size is the everyday handrail diameter, and this fitting comes in three finishes to match it: polished brass for a traditional rail, or 304 stainless in polished or satin for a bright or low-glare interior run. It pairs with the ball elbows, tees, and side-outlet fittings in the same 1.5-inch line, so a whole grid goes together from one family. The 706/2 is the same cross for 2-inch tubing.
